SAINT JOHN

Saint John is the oldest incorporated city in Canada and its old-world charm is on display around every corner. Here, uptown delights (that’s how Saint Johners do “downtown”) like great restaurants, theatre, cafes, museums, and shopping, are balanced with opportunities to get closer to nature. The world’s highest tides, courtesy of the Bay of Fundy, are at the city’s doorstep. This once-industrial city is now a thriving smart city, and entrepreneurs and their families are making it home like never before.

Meet Dr. Milan Aspe

Graduate

Saint John has a very accessible uptown core with access to high-quality restaurants and shopping. There is minimal traffic so commuting is a breeze - there is even a huge park (Rockwood) that was on my way home that has swimming, kayaking and a huge area of nature trails. I’m originally from a small town but did medical school in a big city, so I really love that Saint John gives a small-town experience with some of the comforts of a bigger centre. I especially love easy access to outdoor activities.

Having a tertiary care hospital meant excellent exposure to a wide-variety of medical presentations. With only a small internal medicine program and my FM colleagues being based in Saint John, we often worked one-on-one with specialty staff. I was able to contact them on subsequent experiences to help with cases.

The program in Saint John has a super strong core of family medicine preceptors that love teaching. They are also super responsive to resident feedback and I’ve seen changes based on feedback I’ve provided in under a year. The program administrator was amazing as well!

Sound like a good fit?
